David Sawyer, MDiv, PhD, joined the Louisville Seminary faculty in 2002 and currently serves as the director of Lifelong Learning and Advanced Degrees and as Professor of Ministry.

Ordained in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in 1969, David Sawyer has served as pastor in churches in Illinois, Ohio, and Minnesota, and Associate Executive for Ministry in the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy (St. Louis). He has also taught interim ministry with the Interim Ministry Network and the Presbyterian Interim Training faculty, and was adjunct professor at Eden Seminary in St. Louis and United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.

In addition to The Work of the Church in Boards & Committees, Dr. Sawyer is author of "The Church in Transition as a Human System" in Temporary Shepherds (Roger Nicholson, ed. Alban Institute, 1999).
