After the loss of a loved one, we move ahead and continue to live; however, it is difficult to get over that loss. Long after the funeral and flowers and phone calls have ended, what are the faith issues and questions that emerge and remain?
In God in my Grief, author Thomas Davis explores the experience of faith in the face of long-term grief and reflects on:
• Memories that become a fixed part of living without a loved one• That which brings comfort and that which continues to hurt• Helping children after the death of a parent • Lingering questions of identity• Times of despair• Use of medication and counseling
Davis reasons that God walks with those who grieve and journeys with the bereaved for as long as it takes. We are not alone in our grief.
