This book adds a spiritual dimension to planning for Christian education. It recognizes that Christian education does not exist in a vacuum in a church but is part of a larger organism. Used entirely or in parts, Embracing the Future challenges and encourages educators to think about, plan for, and act on the teaching ministry in new ways for the future.
Linda Isham is an American Baptist church educator who is recognized for her contributions to ministry with children and to planning for the future of church education. She served on the national staff of American Baptist Educational Ministries for most of her career. In her retirement she serves as president of the American Baptist Churches of Connecticut and finds time to teach adult Sunday School in her local church in Suffield.
Isham was recently included in a group of 180 people named Christian Educators of the 20th Century. Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox believers were recognized as part of an ecumenical project funded by the Lily Foundation and hosted by the Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, in La Mirada, Calif.
