Lora-Ellen McKinney provides an extraordinary resource that brings an African American perspective to Christian education. Providing both a theological and a practical guide, the author's inclusive approach offers recommendations, tips, guide questions, and references for educators working with a wide range of learners, including those with special needs. The result is an accessible book that offers educators a guide to providing Christians of African origin a framework for teaching truth, faith, discipleship, training, and all of the Christian principles necessary for leading Christ-like lives in and outside of their communities.
"It is clear, practical, ambitious, no-nonsense, high-standards education, and its application will undoubtedly make a difference in the churches to whom it is addressed...McKinney has done her homework, out of which she draws the best ideas and guidelines, describing how they can and should be put to work in the local church setting." Donald E. Keeney, The Clergy Journal
"Tips and recommended learning resources abound throughout, and the book's final section focuses on building a successful African-centered Christian education program." The Portland Skanner
"Dr. McKinney provides professors of Christian education, pastors, seminarians, and laypeople with a holistic tool for the church's teaching ministry. Thoroughly researched, passionately argued, and logically written, this is a powerful volume for the twenty-first century church." Rev. "Dr. McKinney has produced a masterpiece resource manual on the solid foundation of Christian education across worship lines. This is a compelling work that captures the spiritual intellect and nourishes the hungry soul." Rev. Dr. Cecil L.
