Judson Press celebrates the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Samuel B. McKinney (1926 - 2018)
Join pastor, scholar, and author Steve Shoemaker on a quest—searching for the Jesus who is searching for us. You may have heard of the "historical Jesus," the figure who lived in first-century CE Galilee as best as we can reconstruct. And you undoubtedly know the more-than-historical Jesus who is in search of us, alive to us in the Spirit of God. This vital volume ushers today's disciples on a journey that moves from history into testimonyseeking the man Jesus in order to embrace the savior we call the Risen Christ. There is history here. There is the author's personal testimony as well, a story of faith and experience. And there is an invitation to piece out of that history and story your own testimony, your own story of how you have come to recognize the historic Jesus at work in your life and faith.
"Jesus Stories becomes an excellent resource for instructing Christians old and new in the details and varied meanings of the Gospel stories. This is a fine work of biblical scholarship punctuated by pastoral and personal implications within the texts. As such, it is a valuable resource for spiritual formation."Bill J. Leonard, Wake Forest University
