Mary Tuomi Hammond co-pastors Peace Community Church of Oberlin, Ohio, a small campus and community fellowship. She is also a campus minister, mother and grandmother, piano teacher, church musician, and writer. Hammond has written for a variety of denominational publications and co-authored Jésus, las mujeres y yo, a Bible study guide for women, developed in partnership with American Baptist missionary, Ruth Mooney, and a group of Salvadoran women. The Church and the Dechurched: Mending a Damaged Faith was published in 2001 by Chalice Press. It was selected by the Academy of Parish Clergy as one of the "top ten books for parish ministry published in 2001."
