G. Avery Lee, (1916-2008), was a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University and Yale Divinity School. He authored sixteen books, including I Want That Mountain! and Living in the Meantime. As a pastor, he made his greatest mark at St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans from 1961 to 1980. He resided in New Orleans, Louisiana.
