Dr. Samuel Kelton Roberts examines the difference between preaching a sermon about morals and regarding the preaching of a sermon as a moral act. He determines what a pastor should be attempting through preaching and what sort of relationship should be created between the preacher and the one hearing the message. A sermon that steers its listeners toward the will of God will inevitably and intrinsically be a sermon that will move the people toward morality and social justice.
SAMUEL KELTON ROBERTS, PhD, is professor of Christian ethics at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. His research and writing interests lie in theological and virtue ethics.
