Reviews
"Money on Purpose is a strong pick for Christian and personal finance collections, highly recommended." The Midwest Book Review, June 2012
"I see this book as a help to anyone needing a better understanding of how to handle their finances, especially when starting out. Pastors might use it in visiting with couples getting married." Bob Molby
"Besides offering systems and plans for money management, Lear, a certified financial planner, also delves into the psychology of how people handle or misuse money. She offers guidance for using prayer, meditation, study, and discipline to alter bad habits. People of any race or nationality will find solid money advice in this book." Church Libraries, Spring 2012
"Lear's advice is well-organized, methodical, pragmatic, and faith-based. The basis of her guidance is simple enough for a five-year-old to understand (as she shows in the introduction), but throughout the book she shows how base-level concepts play powerfully in a wide variety of financial situations. Money on Purpose fills a valuable niche in the crowded financial market." Melissa Anne Wuske for ForeWord Reviews, February 21, 2012
"Shayna Lear has prophesied to the dry bones of financial incapacity among black people. If we embrace her passionate challenge, these bones shall live." DeForest B. Soaries, Jr., Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, Somerset, New Jersey and author of dfree Breaking Free from Financial Slavery
"Shayna Lear has taken an otherwise complex, uninteresting, and often ignored topic and simplified it in such a way that everyone from the financial novice to seasoned investor can benefit from the insights and principles in this book". Pastor Zachary Ritvalsky, Sweet Union Baptist Church, Philadelphia, PA
"In my work with African-American couples, I am constantly faced with the marital stress created by financial conflict between spouses. During these times of global financial distress, I am excited that Ms. Lear has provided such a timely resource. If you want to better understand the practical basics of healthy financial management you won't be disappointed. But, if you deeply crave to sense how God has positioned you with the personality, spiritual gifts, and economic opportunity to transform your family and community finances and relationships then your prayers have been answered. Dr. Harold L. Arnold, Jr. - Executive Director Christian Coalition for Black Marriage and Family and author of Marriage ROCKS for Christian Couples
"Shayna Lear has devoted her early career to helping families and individuals become financially stable and relieve some of the tensions which plague many of us. In this volume Lear has provided the Christian community with very helpful information concerning the biblical and practical means of financial stewardship. The church will find that the application of truth toward healthy financial stewardship will be beneficial and enhance their ministries in this tight economy." Dr. Manuel Ortiz, Pastor, Spirit and Truth Fellowship CRC, Professor Emeritus, Westminster Theological Seminary
"Why, I wondered, do we need another book on money? Now I know it is because there was a need for a book that clearly stated the purpose of money in such an understandable manner that persons of all ages will be able to grasp it and implement it in their lives. Ms. Lear has produced a book that will not only give readers the tools to identify their current practices and understanding of money but also the vision of a new way to use money and the courage to move forward with new practices and behaviors. Money on Purpose will become a treasured stewardship education resource for clergy and other church leaders." Rev. Dr. Marsha Brown Woodard, lecturer in Christian Ministry/ Academic Advisor, Palmer Seminary, Wynnewood, PA
"There are thousands of books on finances out there (I've written a few myself), but this book by Shayna is one of the best I have ever read on the subject!...In Money on Purpose, Shayna confirms the fact that how we handle money is first and foremost a spiritual issue. That perspective is desperately needed in today's economy because so many people have made money their god."from the Foreword by Lee Jenkins, author, financial adviser, speaker, & pastor, Lee Jenkins Group, LLC
